A focometer is an instrument measuring the dioptric power and optical properties of the patient’s spectacles (glasses). It is possible to measure the diopter strength in gas permeable contact lenses.
The doctor does this measurement to check the diopter in the patient’s glasses during his first medical examination, as well as in following medical checks when he estimates the stability of diopter or follows the degree of progression.
